Since I was given a container of green olives a year ago to throw in my smoker, things have really started to blow up for me with these tasty bites that have been described by Roberto Rogness at Wine Expo in Santa Monica as “where crack meets the hot sex of olives”. Roberto isn’t the only one who feels this way and the raves keep pouring in.
Wine Expo in Santa Monica started serving the smoked olives in their brand new tasting room about a month ago, a mix of Sicilian and Greek, and are now selling jars of them in the awesome retail section. They come packed in extra virgin olive oil that can be used in a number of ways.
Over the last year I have sold hundreds of vacuumed sealed bags all over the country to friends, family, and clients and now, thanks to Roberto and Wine Expo, I am smoking olives almost everyday. Both Tastingtable.com and LA Weekly blog site have mentioned the yumm that is my smoked green olives. I am now in process of researching the mass production of them, followed by world domination.

Alisa Sloan from Portland Picks, a weekly online mag featuring all the great local things about Portland, came to my Southern Sass dinner to check out Orgasmo de la Boca. In the end she had the greatest time and left a few pounds heavier, but felt that the name was a little too much for Portland Picks? Orgasmo de la Boca has finally gotten some press here in LA! After 2 years of doing these events in LA and a total of 6 in all, we finally get a little recognition. August’s Sunset magazine has a small write up about the “guerilla dining” scene being the new “hot” way to dine out. Of course, we all know that it has been around for many, many years. I have found Los Angeles a particularly difficult city to produce these dinners in. I think mostly due to the “waiting for something better to come along” or “will I feel like driving” attitudes that rule our fair city of angels. The crash of the economy hasn’t helped me either, but I march on!
