Orgasmo de la Meataballa

Ciao Bellos e Bellas! It has been a long time since my last tasty supper and I am ready to throw down again! I know times are tough, but that doesn’t mean we can’t treat ourselves to a great, heartwarming meal. So this time I have decided to go back to my childhood Italian roots and share with you one of my favorite meals. As a child, every Sunday was spent making and eating an afternoon feast of pasta and meatballs. Dad and mom always got the sauce started before we even woke for breakfast and I always got to grate the wheel of cheese on one of those old fashioned hand turned graters…inbetween dips of bread into the sauce, of course. I continued this tradition for the 7 years I lived in Seattle and after many years I want to continue it with you!

What is Orgasmo de la Boca?

Orgasmo de la Boca is a monthly event focusing around the most influential things in our lives, food, music, art, and performance.  Chef Alessandra serves up amazing food inspired by the arts featured at these events.  The venues and events are always changing.  The type of events range from cocktail parties, dinner and a movie, to epic sit down dinners.  In addition to these events there are family friendly events every other month.  A percentage of the procedes for certain events benifit local arts.

Orgasmo de la Boca started as a renegade supper club in Alessandra’s apartment in Barcelona in 2005.  It was 12 of her closest friends, a four course dinner, and lots of wine.  The idea was to meet monthly, with everyone bringing a new friend each time to expand their circle.  It was eventually, upon Alessandra’s return to the states, taken to Portland, Oregon for a brief stint where it evolved and flourished.   When Alessandra returned to Los Angeles she saw a bigger vision with the need to step it up a notch.  Inspired by her extremely artistic friends her vision of a cohesive collaboration of these mediums came to fruition.
